Firefighters rescue girl who fell down embankment

HOLYOKE, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

Holyoke firefighters responded to a technical rescue near I-91 North Sunday night.

Holyoke Fire Captain Anthony Cerrutti told Western Mass News that a 13-year-old girl was running from police after she was caught shoplifting near Bed Bath & Beyond.

Cerrutti says the girl jumped from I-91 on to a railroad track breaking her leg.

She has been transported to Baystate Medical Center.

Crews were on scene for about 45 minutes before clearing the area.
