National Weather Service issues first winter advisory of the season

Posted: Updated:

The National Weather Service has issued a freezing rain advisory for all of western MA from 6 am through noon today. Very light rain may develop early enough this morning to cause some icy pavement as temperatures climb from the upper 20s into the lower and middle 30s. Freezing rain is rain that falls and freezes on contact with objects that are lower than 32 degrees. This glaze effect can be treacherous. Allow extra time to travel this morning.
