Temps climb above freezing with plain rain

Posted: Updated:
SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

Temperatures will continue to slowly inch through the 30s this afternoon as any leftover freezing rain changes to plain rain showers.  We're not expecting a lot of rain, but you'll need to keep the umbrella handy for the rest of the day.

More showers will develop overnight and continue off and on through tomorrow night. We're not concerned about icing after this morning. The air mass will slowly moderate as the main area of low pressure tracks well to our west. The steadiest and heaviest rain will fall late tomorrow into tomorrow night.

We begin to clear out and dry off with windy conditions Thursday. Then, to follow, a large area of high pressure will deliver a sunny weekend with moderating temperatures. Right now the weekend is looking very nice with temperatures near or into the 50s! Not bad for the first weekend in December!
