The town of Wilbraham came together on Sunday to help one of their own.
A group of high school students held a walk-a-thon this morning for Celia LaBarbera, a sixth grader in the community.
Celia, 11, has had more than 20 surgeries for the rare, incurable disease she has fought since she was born. Neurofibromatosis Two causes tumors throughout Celia’s central nervous system and affects her daily life tremendously.
“Having the town support us is huge,” Celia’s mother, Anita LaBarbera, said. “It just makes us feel like we’re not in this alone and that people care about Celia and what she’s going through. It’s wonderful.”
All money raised during today’s walk-a-thon will go toward the Children’s Tumor Foundation.
