Skies remain partly cloudy overnight as temperatures fall in to the upper 20s to 30. As the cold air arrives, it may bring with it a few snow showers for western Mass. There may even be a coating to an inch of snow across the higher terrain and Franklin County. Any flurries in the valley would be more conversational than anything.
The cold weather doesn't stick around long. After Sunday's highs in the low 40s, the mild air returns for the beginning of Christmas week. Sunday will be the pick of the weekend, with mostly sunny skies and temperatures a few degrees above average.
The jet stream will lift into Canada as another ridge builds across the east. This will bring another surge of mild air for much of next week, including Christmas Eve and Day. In fact, as Santa arrives temperatures may climb to near 60 degrees! We are watching a few chances for rain during Christmas week. The best chance looks to be Wednesday into Thursday.
