A woman was hit by a vehicle Tuesday evening while she was in a crosswalk in front of the Smith College Campus Center and now police say they've cited the driver.

Sgt. Josef Barszcz told Western Mass News they received the call at 5:28 p.m. for a pedestrian struck in the crosswalk at the intersection of Elm Street and Henshaw Avenue.

It happened "Right in front of the Smith College Campus Center," explained Sgt. Barszcz.

When police arrived they found a woman in her 20's and she had been hit.

"She was complaining about pain throughout her body," added Sgt. Barszcz.

The Northampton Fire Department also assisted on scene.

"She was transported to Baystate Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries," noted Sgt. Barszcz.

The driver, 35-year-old, Daniel Krassner, from Northampton, did remain on scene and cooperated with police.

Sgt. Barszcz said they cited him for a crosswalk violation.   He did note however that there's no criminal charges pending.

"He was going the speed limit and he just didn't see her until the last minute," he said.

Krassner was driving a Honda CRV.

The crash remains under investigation by the Northampton Police Department.
