Arctic air continues to drain into western Mass this afternoon, led by strong northerly winds. We hit our high temperatures for the day early this morning, and temperatures have been falling ever since. This will be the coldest weather of the season! The cold weather will be short lived, as we begin to moderate as we get towards Wednesday. This week will also feature lots of sun and no snow or rain – at least until Saturday.
Clouds continue to dissipate into the evening, leaving us with mostly clear skies overnight. Temperatures begin to fall in to the teens this evening, but with a strong north and northwest wind, our temperatures will easily feel like they are in the single digits. With clear skies and a frigid air mass in place, by the time we wake up tomorrow morning, overnight lows will have reached the single digits to near 0. It will easily be the coldest night this winter so far.
Despite mostly sunny skies on Tuesday, highs only reach into the low to mid 20s. We start the warmer trend as we get to Wednesday. With temperatures near 40 under lots of sun, Wednesday looks to be the pick of the week. Thursday will add a few more clouds and degrees, topping out in the low 40s. By Friday, we hover around 40 with hazy sunshine.
