Protesters call for resignation of Three Rivers Fire Prudential Committee

Posted: Updated:
PALMER, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

The new year isn't starting off any better than it ended for the Three Rivers Fire District Prudential Committee.

A silent protest tonight outside the fire station Wednesday night. These people want the two remaining commission members to resign.

The problems started in the spring when the committee began an effort to discipline chief Scott Turner. The chief is still on the job without a contract.

Now many, like Dave Basler of Three Rivers, say it's time for the Prudential Committee to go. He adds, “We'd like to get the two remaining members to resign. They've cost us a lot of money in legal fees. We can't find out how much money they've actually spent in legal fees. Both sides have lawyers at this point. They did not renew the chief's contract.”

The chief is now an at will employee, serving at the discretion of the committee of Ray Domey and Donald Reim. Member William Jalbert resigned last month. Domey has not returned our call requesting a comment.
