Here in western MA we are literally on the edge of a moderate snow event. The bulk of the snowfall in New England will fall in southern CT, RI, and Cape Cod. There is a blizzard warning for south coastal CT where nearly a foot of snow will accumulate!
Something that hasn't changed at all in the last few days is the sharp cut-off or tight gradient between those who get nothing in the northern Berkshires and Franklin county to plowable snow in Hampden county south of the MA Pike. The battle will be on here in the valley this afternoon as the very dry air to the north, remaining in place, thwarts the storm from dumping enough snowflakes to create travel issues for us.
If you have travel plans in Hampden county and eastward or south from there, know that roads will become snow covered and slick early evening with travel troubles increasing as you go southward through. CT.
Our accumulation forecast ranges from a dusting near Northampton to 2 inches near the CT and Worcester county borders. We'll have updates on Western MA news on the hour as conditions warrant and you can join us live at 6pm for team coverage of this Blizzard of 2016. Updates throughout the day on FB and twitter as well.
