SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Much of western mass was spared the wrath of a major winter storm while to our east it was a much different story. While in eastern Hampden county some areas saw a couple of inches of snow some areas of Cape Cod picked up over a foot. It was even worse in areas of the Mid-Atlantic where some locations are measuring their snowfall this morning in feet.
A much better day is on the way to close out the weekend. We will see mostly sunny skies. There will be a bit of a breeze today but winds will not be as strong as they were yesterday. Highs today will top out in the low to middle 30s. Factor in a northerly breeze between 10-15 mph and it will feel like it is in the teens at times this afternoon. Under partly cloudy skies tonight low temperatures drop back into the mid to upper teens.
Slightly milder air moves in to start the new work week. Temperatures will top out in the upper 30s to around 40 on Monday and highs on Tuesday will top out in the lower 40s in some areas. Keep in mind the average high for this time of year is in the upper 20s so we will see temperatures running some 10 degrees above normal.
