After a cold start temperatures have warmed up quickly! Readings were down into the teens this morning but this afternoon temps will be into the lower 40s under blue skies and sunshine. A few clouds will move in later. By the way, the sun doesn't set until 5 today! The sun will not set before 5 PM again until November! We are gaining 2+ minutes a day now.
It's still looking as though a split jet stream will steer an ocean storm offshore tonight into tomorrow morning. An upper level system will bring us a few flurries or a snow shower or two around midday, however the lack of moisture along with surface temperatures in the mid-30s will prevent any accumulation at least in the valley outside of some scattered coatings. There may be up to an inch across the higher terrain.
There's another chance for light snow showers Saturday night from the next weak system. This too will no amount to much. This frontal system will bring milder temperatures starting Sunday and last through the middle of the week. Temperatures will average 15-25 degrees above normal putting highs near 50 or even into the 50s for several days! What a way to start the new month.
There may be a few sprinkles or light rain showers on Monday afternoon followed by another surge of mild air for the middle of next week. While we go through that transition we'll likely see some heavy rain, wind and near record temperatures late on Wednesday. Colder air will return late in the week.
