SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - After a chilly start temperatures rebounded nicely this afternoon as highs made it into the upper 30s and lower 40. Milder air is working toward the region and we will see temperatures rising above normal this weekend and into early next week.
There's a slight chance for a flurry tonight as a weak system moves through the region though I think most areas remain dry. This frontal system will bring milder temperatures starting Sunday and lasting through the middle of the week. Temperatures will average 15-25 degrees above normal putting highs near 50 or even into the 50s. What a way to start February!
We could see a few showers around here Monday afternoon as weak frontal passage takes place but any heavy rain will hold off until Wednesday. This is when a strong cold front will move through. Out ahead of the front it will turn windy and very mild! There will likely be heavy downpours and maybe even a thunderstorm as the system moves through. We will slowly go back to more seasonable temperatures behind the front as colder air drains in.
