SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - It certainly did not feel like late January out there this afternoon as highs topped out in the upper 40s to middle 50s. Westfield reached 57 this afternoon. Average high temperature for this time of year is around 30 degrees so we were over 25 degrees above normal this afternoon. The mild air will stick around to welcome in February before we cool down late in the week.
Under partly cloudy skies temperatures drop back into the lower to middle 30s overnight. Keep in mind that those should be our high temperatures this time of year. A weak cold front moves through the region tomorrow but it does not have a lot of moisture associated with it. There is just the slight chance for a few scattered showers tomorrow. Otherwise expect mostly cloudy skies with highs once again in the upper 40s and lower 50s.
Any heavy rain will hold off until Wednesday. This is when a strong cold front will move through. Out ahead of the front it will turn windy and very mild! There will likely be heavy downpours and maybe even a thunderstorm as the system moves through. We will slowly go back to more seasonable temperatures behind the front as colder air drains in. By the end of the week we will see daytime highs back down into the mid to upper 30s.
