No major storms through the weekend - Western Mass News - WGGB/WSHM

FIRST WARNING

No major storms through the weekend

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

Today and Friday are seasonally cold with temperatures mainly in the 30s, but with plentiful sunshine that is stronger each day now, we'll enjoy time outdoors.

A bit breezy today, but Friday the wind is light and variable with high pressure overhead. Great day to hit the slopes! Friday night, a vigorous area of low pressure will track well to our north.

Expect some flurries changing to sprinkles or a spot shower by Saturday as a warm front/cold front combo moves through. Most of the weekend features dry weather with temperatures in the 40s.

There's a chance for some light accumulating snow early Monday that may affect the commute, but our next chance for a sizable storm is late Tuesday into Wednesday. This has potential to bring us a substantial snow storm if it tracks offshore.

It's too early in the game for a specific  forecast. What we do know is the east coast gets stormy and it will be a major storm. Where it tracks means the difference between snow, a wintry mix, or snow to rain. More to come....
