Sun to sleet and ice

SPRINGFIELD, MA (AP) -

Leap Day's high temperature was 53. So, it goes into the February climate data, but we would have started March with a 50+ on the thermometer and the first 7 days of March don't have a temperature that high in the forecast. Mid 40s is as high as we'll get. Did you know, we reached 50-59 degrees 11 times in February (of 27 times during the last 3 months of winter). And it was 60-69 six days since Dec. 1st and three were this last month of February!

March is in like a lamb with the only weather issue of sunshine as you head to the polls. Driving shades are a necessity.  Our next storm will arrive tonight through early Wednesday. It starts as a bit of sleet and freezing rain, but it's another 'inside runner' which means more rain, a southerly wind, and mild air returning. The bulk of the rain will fall late Tuesday night to around sunrise Wednesday, then it dries out in the afternoon with some sunshine.
