Spring pattern settling into the Pioneer Valley

Posted: Updated:
SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

Spring is in the air! High pressure will continue to build off shore as a mild southerly flow takes hold this afternoon! We can expect temperatures to run 10-30 degrees above normal for this time of year over the next 7-10 days! (The normal high is 42-45 during this time period) Temperatures this afternoon will reach near 60! Clouds this morning will give way to some sunshine as skies average partly sunny. (More clouds than sun)

Spring will certainly be in the air this afternoon but tomorrow will be even warmer! We'll be basking in near record-breaking warmth with temperatures near 70! The record for tomorrow is 68 set in 2002 (Westover Air Reserve Base) There is a good chance that we will break the record! The last time we touched 70 was the beginning of November.

Although we are expecting a few showers on Thursday it is actually still looking very mild with temperatures back into the 60s. It looks as though most of the day will now be dry with most of the shower activity setting up across central and northern New England.  A cold front will slide south on Friday bringing in cooler air for the weekend but not before reaching into the 60s once again. Although Saturday will be cooler temperatures will still average in the 50s.
