Rain showers that moved through during the overnight has pushed out to sea but we are waking up to some areas of patchy dense fog. There is the chance for showers and possibly even a thunderstorm this afternoon. Colder air is on the way for the weekend.
Fog is reducing visibility in many areas this morning. Fog will give way to mostly cloudy skies later this morning but there could also be a few breaks of sun There is the chance for some afternoon showers, downpours and even a few more claps of thunder, as a strong upper level system with a good bit of energy sweeps into New England. Isolated gusty winds and small hail are possible as well. This afternoon will be Spring-like once again with temperatures reaching into the upper 50s and low 60s!
As this system moves out, colder air will sweep in for the weekend. Clouds will give way to some sunshine Friday afternoon as temperatures fall into the 30s, after morning highs in the 40s. We expect another round of rain for Friday afternoon.
Right now the weekend is looking dry with temperatures in the lower 40s for highs. Our nighttime lows in the upper teens! A winter chill will be in the air!
Over the weekend a coastal storm will take shape off the Carolina coast. With cold air in place, things will get interesting. We are certainly watching this closely, but it does look like we will see at least a little snow by Monday morning.
