Welcome to spring in Western Mass. Spring arrived at 12:30 am this morning and what else could we be talking about to welcome in spring but the potential for accumulating snow.
The bulk of the evening looks like it will remain dry. Clouds will increase this evening and it looks like we could see some flakes late this evening. The steady snow looks like it will move in after midnight before coming to an end by mid-morning tomorrow.
The latest computer models have shifted this storm slightly to the west which means we could see a minor accumulation here in Western mass. Keep in mind that a shift in the track of this storm east or west will make a difference in the amount of snow that we see so we will still need to keep a close eye on this storm. As far as accumulations at this point we are thinking about a coating - 2" for much of the area. There is going to be a sharp cut off from the areas that receive light snow and the areas where the heavier snow bands set up. Eastern parts of Hampden and Hampshire county have the better chance of seeing those heavier snow bands and in those areas some local amounts over 2" are possible.
Temperatures will slowly begin to warm up next week with highs approaching the middle 50s and near 60 by late next week.
