This week, the Big Y SurPRIZE Squad from Western Mass News answered another nomination.

The team stopped by the Hampshire County town of Chesterfield to visit a special teacher at the New Hingham Elementary School.

A nomination for Ms. Laura was sent in by parents of students in her class.

"A few of us nominated her because we wanted to show her how much we appreciate all the work she does for New Hingham.  When you think of an ideal pre-school teacher, that's Ms. Laura," said one parent.

Students we met at the school came outside to share in the excitement as we thanked the 12 year teacher for her dedication.

What did we surprise her with?  A sandbox that she has wanted for her class.

"We really were looking for some nice shade and a sandbox for the kids to play and thank you so much.  I'm the lucky one.  I work with the best families and the best kids ever.  I have a wonderful job that I look forward to coming to everyday," said Ms. Laura.

We also surprised Ms. Laura with a gift card to Bread Euphoria in Haydenville so she can grab some lunch or another treat outside of the classroom.

Every week, the Big Y SurPRIZE Squad will bring fun and surprises to locations across the Pioneer Valley.  To nominate someone deserving for a surprise, you can e-mail or use our online form.
