With a large dome of high pressure over us, expect abundant sunshine through the weekend! Ok, after you're done cheering, continue with the rest of the discussion because if you have spring allergies or asthma, you may have a different opinion.
In the upper levels, high pressure is strengthening. Think of it as air molecules piling up with nowhere to go. This air mass, over time, becomes warmer and stays very dry. It will also become stagnant, trapping low level pollutants by Friday and Saturday especially as furnaces and wood stoves running this week.
Tree pollen will rise to high levels Thursday and stay there through Sunday. This will add to the misery for asthma sufferers. The trapped pollutants, namely low level Ozone, along with increasing pollens will peak during the weekend.
Be sure to keep pollens out of the home by leaving outer wear outside or on a porch. Taking showers, especially washing pollens out of one's hair, will minimize what ends up on your pillow.
