Trains in the Valley hopes to improve travel in Pioneer Valley

NORTHAMPTON, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

Setting Western Mass on the right track as the co-founders of Trains in the Valley launch their new website.

TrainsInTheValley.org is a website dedicated to keeping people up to date on rail developments and progress in the Pioneer Valley.

It’s all part of a project to bring better passenger and freight services to the area.

“Expanded use of the rail service in the valley will benefit the community, get traffic off the highways, and provide additional options for people to move up and down the valley,” said Trains in the Valley organizer Ben Hecksher.

Right now the Vermonter is the only train available to Western Mass commuters.

Trains in the Valley hopes they can create enough demand to bring a second line to the area.
