Our beautiful stretch of April weather will continue this afternoon! After a chilly start with temperatures in the 20s this morning, readings are in the upper 50s and low 60s this afternoon. If you don't have a chance to enjoy today's great weather, there will be many opportunities over the next several days to do so. In fact, the long holiday weekend is looking fantastic!
A huge dome of high pressure will stay anchored across the northeast through Monday. This "Omega Block" in the jet stream is causing systems to stay stationary, so we will continue to see abundant sunshine and dry conditions.
As this area of high pressure shifts slightly to the south, the air mass warms up as we head into the weekend. Temps will reach into the mid 60s tomorrow with some thin clouds possible. An ocean storm far out to sea will try to send a few high clouds our way.
Temps will reach into the low 70s on Sunday and Marathon Monday! (It's looking like Boston will be warm for the runners). Either way, there will be plenty of sun all across New England. A few clouds may start moving in late in the day on Monday.
The next chance of rain will arrive early Tuesday morning as a cold front slips through the area. It will knock temps back into the 50s for Tuesday and Wednesday. Even with the rain chances on Tuesday, we'll remain pretty dry as it doesn't look to be a huge washout.
We begin to warm back up as we head towards the end of next week.
