Our beautiful stretch of April weather will continue this afternoon! After a chilly start with temperatures in the 20's this morning, readings will reach near 60 this afternoon. If you don't have a chance to enjoy today's great weather, there will be many opportunities over the next several days to do so. In fact, the long holiday weekend is looking fantastic!
A huge dome of high pressure will stay anchored across the northeast through Monday. This "Omega Block" in the jet stream is causing systems to stay stationary, so we will continue to see abundant sunshine and dry conditions.
As this area of high pressure shifts slightly to the south, the air mass warms up as we head into the weekend. Temperatures will reach into the low to mid 60s on Saturday with some thin clouds possible. An ocean storm far out to sea will try to send a few high clouds our way.
Temperatures will reach into the low 70s on Sunday and Marathon Monday! (It's looking as though it will be warm in Boston too for the runners). Either way there will be plenty of sunshine all across New England. A few clouds may start moving in late in the day on Monday.
The next chance of rain will arrive Monday night into early Tuesday morning as a cold front slips through the area. It will knock temps back into the 50s for Tuesday and Wednesday. Even with the rain chances on Tuesday, we'll remain pretty dry as it doesn't look to be a huge washout. That means the pollen count will be up and the brush fire risk will be elevated as well.
By the way, be sure to have plenty of sunscreen on this weekend. The sun is strong this time of year. The sun angle and strength is equal to late August!
