After a chilly start this morning, temperatures topped off in the mid 60s this afternoon! Our beautiful stretch of April weather will continue through the entire long weekend! Our great weather was in contrast to the chillier temperatures they saw in eastern Mass and the Cape. Temperatures were stuck in the 40s and 50s all day, due to the ocean influence.
Tonight our temperatures will fall back in to the upper 20s to near 30 under mostly clear skies.
A huge dome of high pressure will stay anchored across the northeast through Monday. This "Omega Block" in the jet stream is causing systems to stay stationary, so we will continue to see abundant sunshine and dry conditions.
As this area of high pressure shifts slightly to the south, the air mass warms up for the Sunday and Monday. Temps will reach near 70 tomorrow and will reach the 70s on Patriot's Day. It's looking like Boston into the 60s to near 70 on Marathon Monday as the breeze stays out of the west, driving the warmer temperatures to the shore line. Sunshine will prevail for most of the day before some clouds move in late in the day.
The next chance of rain will arrive overnight Monday into Tuesday morning as a cold front slips through the area. It will knock temps back into the 50s and 60s for Tuesday and Wednesday. Even with the rain chances on Tuesday, we'll remain pretty dry as it doesn't look to be a huge washout.
We begin to warm back up as we head towards the end of next week.
