Today was a seasonable and sunny April day. Temperatures reached into the middle 60s. The very dry air coupled with a gusty breeze made for ideal conditions for brush fires to spread fast. In fact, at least five brush fires were reported thru the Pioneer Valley.A Red Flag Warning will remain in effect until 6pm.
It will be clear and cool overnight with temperatures down below freezing in a few spots tomorrow morning. As soon as the sun rises, temperatures will climb very fast as high pressure drifts off shore and a southwesterly flow takes hold. This will bring in the warmth again as we reach into the mid 70s tomorrow afternoon. Expect some thin cloudiness in the afternoon as a system approaches from the west.
An area of low pressure and a cold front will push at us Friday. We'll see some morning sun, clouds, and spotty showers with afternoon showers and even the chance for a thunderstorm as the cold front pushes through by evening. The thunderstorm chances will bring a locally heavy downpours, so rainfalls can range from .5" to 1.5".
The weekend is looking dry, breezy and cool with chilly mornings and afternoon highs in the upper 50s and lower 60s.
