The sun was back today! We'll see plenty of blue skies and sunshine thru the afternoon with just a few puffy cumulus clouds dotting the sky here and there. Temperatures reached into the mid 60s, just a few degrees below the average for this time of year.
With clear skies, a dry, cool air mass in place and light winds temperatures will fall off quickly this evening. By morning readings will be down into the 30s. In fact, a Freeze Warning for eastern Hampden and Hampshire Counties and Frost Advisory for western Hampden County have been issued to go into effect from Midnight to 8 A.M. While western Hampshire County and all of Franklin County are not covered under these advisories or warnings, you’ll still want to take care of your tender vegetation.
High pressure builds in for much of the week, keeping rain chances away through Thursday. It will certainly feel a lot more like May than last week. Sunshine will prevail with daytime highs reaching into the 70s much of the week with overnight lows into the 30s and low 40s.
A cold front will bring clouds and showers on Friday afternoon, but it is not looking like a washout.
We should dry out for Saturday morning’s Spirit of Springfield Pancake Breakfast, with spotty showers possible into the afternoon.
