It was another nearly perfect afternoon with sunny skies and warm temperatures. Readings reached into the lower 80s in some locations! Adding to the comfort are dew points in the 20s and 30s, meaning the air is very dry overhead.
We will remain mostly clear overnight, staying in the mid 40s by tomorrow morning.
The stretch of great weather end as our luck runs out tomorrow, Friday the 13th, with high pressure shifting east as cold front approaches from the west. Friday will start dry and mostly sunny, but we quickly build clouds into the late morning. We have a slight isolated shower chance in the morning with the main line of showers arriving in the afternoon. A few of these cells could contain some thunder and lightning and brief heavy downpours. The line of showers is quick-lived on Friday. By Friday night, we are begin drying out thru Saturday morning.
We will remain dry for Saturday morning's Spirit of Springfield Pancake Breakfast. It will be sunny and comfortable for the event. Make sure you have the spring jacket and sunscreen.
A strong upper-level system and cold front will move through late in the day on Saturday into Saturday night with another round of showers and even a thunderstorm. Storms on Saturday could contain gusty winds and small hail. Behind the front, it turns windy and chilly for Sunday. Temperatures on Sunday will struggle to reach 60 with strong winds that may lead to a few scattered power outages.
We will remain somewhat chilly on Monday, once again struggling to reach 60 with gusty winds.
