Summer Pattern Continues: Hot, Afternoon T-Storm, and Poor Air Quality

Posted: Updated:

The summer-like weather will continue over the next several days. Readings will reach into the 80s through the long holiday weekend with a few 90 degree temps as well. In fact we did hit 90 this afternoon at Westover A.R.B. in Chicopee.

An Air Quality Alert remains in effect for Hampden, Hampshire and Franklin counties until 11 pm so take it easy today. The Air Quality Alert will also go into effect again tomorrow morning at 11 am and last until 11 pm tomorrow evening

There is the chance for a spot shower this evening but many areas will remain dry. Overnight we can expect partly cloudy skies with lows dropping back into the upper 50s and lower 60s.  Tomorrow and Saturday will become more humid with dew point creeping into the 60s. This will also help kick off an afternoon thunderstorm especially Saturday and Sunday.

A weakening, backdoor cold front will push through on Sunday, perhaps knocking temperatures down a bit but the feel of summer will still be in the air. As of now, we expect temperature to stay in the low to mid 80s for Sunday. Overall the weekend should be decent for cookouts and outdoor plans just keep an eye to the sky for a brief thunderstorm but the vast majority of the time it will NOT be raining.
