Tons of Sun and Warmth for the Weekend

Posted: Updated:
SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

This afternoon has featured high, thin clouds with highs near 80 and dew points near 50! It will be another nearly perfect evening too! Great weather for this evening's Backyard BBQ. Don Maher will be live in East Longmeadow.

Things will cool off quite a bit overnight as temperatures fall into the mid 40s by morning. A bit cooler than average but a great night to shut the ACs off and crack those windows open.

High pressure will build in through the weekend with sunny skies and a slow warming trend. Temperatures will reach into the lower 80s tomorrow, the mid 80s on Saturday and upper 80s to near 90 on Sunday. Along the way, it will remain fairly dry with dew points in the 50s. This week will rival last weekend with near perfect conditions.

We have yet to hit 90 this month but we will make a run at it on Sunday and Monday.

The chance for showers and a few storms will increase the start of next week. The best chance for seeing any rain will arrive on Tuesday as cold front approaches New England. Until then the dry conditions will continue.

And by the way, we need the rain. Parts of western Mass are now under a moderate drought. Year-to-date we are running about 5" below normal. We've picked up 15" of rain thus far, where we should be closer to 20" at this point.
