Our stretch of dry weather will continue through the weekend and into early next week. We do need some rain around here though as some areas in Hampden county are in a moderate drought. It looks like our best chance for rain does not come until Tuesday.
High pressure will build in through the weekend with sunny skies and a slow warming trend. Temperatures will reach into the mid 80s to upper 80s on Saturday and upper 80s to near 90 on Sunday. Along the way, it will remain fairly dry with dew points in the 50s. This week will rival last weekend with near perfect conditions. We have yet to hit 90 this month but we will make a run at it on Sunday and Monday.
Monday will remain mainly dry with partly sunny skies. As a cold front approaches the region on Tuesday we will see our best chance for some rain with the chance for some afternoon showers and thunderstorms. It will also become rather humid on Tuesday with highs in the lower 80s. Another system may extend our rain chances into Wednesday as well.
And by the way, we need the rain. Parts of western Mass are now under a moderate drought. Year-to-date we are running about 5" below normal. We've picked up 15" of rain thus far, where we should be closer to 20" at this point.
