Another spectacular day will close out the weekend with sunny, hot and dry conditions. We do need some rain around here though as some areas in Hampden county are in a moderate drought. It looks like our best chance for rain does not come until Tuesday.
After another cool start this morning we are looking at a very warm afternoon once again as highs top out in the upper 80s to around 90 under mostly sunny skies. We have yet to hit 90 this month at Westover but we will make a run at it this afternoon. UV index is a 10 today so make sure to use sunscreen if you are going to be outdoors today. Skies will remain clear tonight and it will not be as cool as the last few nights with overnight lows in the upper 50s to around 60.
Monday will remain mainly dry with morning sun mixing with some afternoon clouds. Highs on Monday will top out in the mid to upper 80s. As a cold front approaches the region on Tuesday we will see our best chance for some rain with the chance for some afternoon showers and thunderstorms. It will also become rather humid on Tuesday with highs in the lower 80s. The chance for showers could extend into the first part of Wednesday.
And by the way, we need the rain. Parts of western Mass are now under a moderate drought. Year-to-date we are running about 5" below normal. We've picked up 15" of rain thus far, where we should be closer to 20" at this point.
