First Warning Forecast

A few showers this evening and overnight

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

It will continue to be gloomy and muggy this afternoon and evening with cloudy skies and a few spotty showers here and there. Temperatures will stay in the 70s with dew points in the 60s. Keep the umbrella handy but we are not expecting much rain until later tonight. You should be able to get most of your outdoor plans in.

As a cold front continues to push through the Northeast, showers and storms have developed across New York state. A few of these storms will try to slide east into western Massachusetts this evening into the overnight. The storms will weaken a bit as they slide into the valley. Berkshire County has the best chance of picking up on any stronger storms.

The front will move through the area slowly, so there will be a couple of leftover showers/storms re-firing up tomorrow as well. These storms will be isolated in nature and the bulk of the activity will set up across eastern Mass.

High pressure briefly builds in on Thursday before another front approaches with another round of showers and storms on Friday.

The rain is short-lived as the 4th of July weekend is shaping up to have lots of sunshine and warm temperatures. Great weather for firework viewing!
