After a mild and muggy morning, skies have remained mostly cloudy this afternoon with the chance for a few scattered showers. Some showers and thunderstorms are impacting Berkshire County right now, and we'll keep the chance for showers in the forecast as we go into the evening. The weekend is looking a bit unsettled before sunshine and drier conditions arrive next week.
Our skies have remained mostly cloudy for most of the day, and temperatures struggled to get out of the 70s. This is due to a backdoor cold front and associated easterly wind off the ocean that kept us cool all day.
To our west, a warm front is approaching and kicking off some showers and thunderstorms in the Hudson Valley. Some of these showers will make the trek over the Berkshires this evening.
The chance for showers will continue into tonight with overnight lows dropping back into the lower and middle 60s. There is a better chance for showers and thunderstorms on Saturday as a cold front approaches the region. It will remain humid on Saturday. Temperatures will be a bit cooler with highs only topping out in the middle 70s. Any rain we can get is certainly beneficial as some parts of the area of running a rainfall deficit for the year of well over 6 inches.
That cold front will push late Saturday so it will begin to turn less humid on Sunday. We are watching for a slight chance for some showers and storms on Sunday morning as an upper level system swings through western Mass. We are thinking most of Sunday will be dry so it is looking to be the better of the two weekend days. Drier air moves in for much of next week.
