First Warning Weather

Partly cloudy skies tonight. Heat Advisory for parts of the region tomorrow.

Posted: Updated:

Tomorrow is a First Warning Weather Day here at Western Mass News. "Feels Like" temperatures could approach the upper 90s to around 100 tomorrow afternoon. There also is a risk for severe thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon into tomorrow evening.

Our first official heat wave of the season continues. We hit 90 this afternoon at West over Air Reserve Base in Chicopee. That makes four consecutive days of 90 degrees or better. It looks like that heat could linger into the middle of the week.

After a sunny and hot afternoon we have a mild night on the way tonight. Skies become partly cloudy tonight with overnight lows dropping back into the lower 60s.

A warm front lifts to our north tomorrow morning which will shift the winds to a southwesterly direction. That means even warmer temperatures and higher levels of humidity. Dew points tomorrow could reach into the lower 70s. Temperatures tomorrow could top out in the lower 90s. That combination means heat index values of over 100 degrees tomorrow afternoon in parts of the Pioneer Valley. Because of this a Heat Advisory is posted for parts of Hampden and Hampshire counties from 11 am until 6 pm tomorrow.

As a cold front approaches the region tomorrow afternoon we will have to watch for the chance for showers and thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon into tomorrow evening. Some of these storms could be strong to even severe with gusty winds and heavy rain. We will begin to dry out by Tuesday but we will still be looking at daytime highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s.
