Rain likely tonight, heavy at times. Cooler and drier to start the work week

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

After a warm and humid weekend shower chances will increase this evening out ahead of a cold front. Behind that front cooler and drier air moves in for the beginning of the new work week.

If you are heading out this evening you may want to grab the umbrella. Rain will move in tonight with the chance for a thunderstorm. The rain could be heavy at times which could lead to some street and poor drainage flooding. We could see rain amounts around a quarter to three quarters of an inch. Lows tonight will drop back into the lower and middle 60s.

Leftover clouds tomorrow morning will quickly give way to mostly sunny skies with cooler temperatures and drier air moving in. There will be a gusty northwesterly breeze bringing a taste of fall for the beginning of the week with very low dew points (dry air) and temperatures only reaching 70s during the day and dipping into the upper 40s at night. Temperatures and humidity levels will begin to rise by the middle to later part of this week.
