Another sunny and warm day is on tap to close out the weekend with highs in the middle 80s. A few clouds will move in tonight ahead of a cold front that could bring a few shower to the region late tonight into early tomorrow morning. The best chance for seeing any showers will be to the north of the Springfield area. Skies become partly to mostly sunny tomorrow afternoon. Lows tonight drop back into the upper 50s and lower 60s with highs tomorrow in the middle 80s.
It becomes slightly drier, warm and mainly sunny on Tuesday, then another front pushes through Wednesday with a better chance for afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Behind this front, models are hinting at a cooler air mass with temperatures dropping into the 70s during the day and possibly 40s at night as we head into Labor Day weekend.
Enjoy the taste of fall while it lasts. Longer range models are indicating that the summertime heat could return shortly after the Labor Day holiday.
