10 people displaced in Ashley Street fire

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

10 residents of the Six Corners neighborhood have been displaced following a fire at a duplex on Ashley Street.

Dennis Leger aide to the Springfield Commissioner, says they responded at 3:30 a.m. on Saturday and found fire quickly spreading from the rear exterior. 

The apartments sustained a great deal of damage and had to be gutted, with an estimate of 75,000 in damage.

No one was injured in the fire seven residents were displaced from 93 Ashley Street, three were displaced from the other. 

The Red Cross is assisting those residents.
