Skies continue to clear out tonight and drier air is building in, allowing for chillier temperatures in the lower 40s by Wednesday morning! Have the coat ready!
High pressure builds into New England Wednesday, bringing abundant sunshine and low dew points. We are dry and comfortable with highs reaching the upper 60s to near 70 in the afternoon with a light north breeze.
Temperatures will have a big fluctuation from night to day over the next few days with low 40s in the morning and 70s in the afternoon with clear or mostly clear skies. This will be the trend Thursday and Friday-perfect weather for turning leaves! Highs may approach 80 by Friday afternoon, but high clouds will be on the increase.
A cold front will be approaching from the west Saturday and Matthew will likely be somewhere along the North Carolina coast. From this point on, there's still a lot of uncertainty with the track of Matthew. It is possible the cold front will tap into moisture from the hurricane and bring us a period of heavy rain from Saturday night into Sunday, with some increase in winds Sunday into Monday. Right now, the direct path of Matthew should be east of us, but will still bring rough seas and life-threatening rip currents to the coast. Our confidence in this forecast is moderate to low right now, so be sure to follow updates as we fine tune it!
