Showers lingered about much of the day thanks to a cold front stalling out just to the east of the region and moisture being lifted into the region from what is left of Matthew. Sunshine returns in time for Columbus Day.
The showers will begin to wind down this evening and some gradual clearing will take place tonight as a ridge of high pressure begins to build into the region. It will be a breezy and chilly night as lows drop back into the middle and upper 30s.
Sunshine returns for the Columbus Day holiday but the breeze will stick around for much of the day. Highs will top out in the upper 50s and lower 60s. The winds will diminish tomorrow night and with clear skies and light winds temperatures drop off quickly after sunset. Monday night is shaping up to be the coldest night of the week with lows dropping back into the lower 30s. High pressure will keep us dry for much of the upcoming week.
Matthew- Matthew is now a post-tropical cyclone but still with winds of 75 mph. Matthew is bringing heavy rain to parts of the mid Atlantic states this morning but will begin to move out to sea tonight.
