(Meredith) – Lenovo Services is recalling 78,000 of their Thinkpad X1 Carbon Laptops after discovering an unfastened screw can damage the battery, causing it to overheat and posing a fire hazard.
This recall involves the 14-inch ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5th Generation laptops, which were sold in silver and black.

The serial number is printed on the bottom of the laptop. Computers manufactured from December 2016 through October 2017 are included in the recall. The manufacturing date codes can be found on the bottom of the laptop.
Consumers should immediately visit Lenovo’s Website to see if their laptop is included in the recall or for assistance in locating the nearest authorized repair center for inspection and repair.
WARNING: If your laptop is included in the recall, stop using it immediately.
There have been no reports of overheating in the United States.
