Local veterans participate in Honor Flight to Washington D.C.

NORTHAMPTON, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

Early this morning a group of 5 local veterans began a day long trek to Washington D.C. as a part of the national Honor Flight program. 

The veterans left from Northampton's World War II Club at 3 a.m. Saturday morning to drive to Logan Airport to meet up with other veterans from the New England area.

The group will then fly to D.C. to visit the National World War II Memorial on the National Mall as well as other memorials and sites.

The veterans will be returning to Northampton early Sunday morning.
