FLORENCE, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

The annual 'Purple Run' to fight for a cure for cancer is taking place today in Florence at Look Memorial Park.

The event benefits the American Cancer Society and offers a number of activities including a walk, 5K and 10K running events.  A craft fair is also being featured at the run and will go until 1 p.m.

You can register to take part in the 'Purple Run' starting at 9 a.m. this morning.  It officially kicks off at 10 a.m.

Over the years this annual event has raised over $11,000.   This year the money raised will go directly to  the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life of Hampshire County in June.
