Several fire departments in western Mass. have been dealing with brush fires this afternoon including in Southampton and Springfield.
The Southampton Police Department reports there were two brush fires in their community today. One on Pequot Road and another on the opposite side of town on Montgomery Road.
The Southampton Fire Department told us in each instance people had burning permits but that it "just got away from them." Both were knocked down successfully.
Over in Springfield, Dennis Leger, Aid to the Springfield Fire Commissioner reported to Western Mass News that they had a brush fire on Clarendon Street Sunday that they had responded to.
In Tolland, police there report they had a small brush fire on Burt Hill Rd. this morning that was quickly placed under control by their Fire Department.
