Close to 100 residents gathered Sunday morning at Chicopee Street General Store and Fishing Hole to report for the city's inaugural River Clean Up Day.
Volunteers worked tirelessly to pick up every piece of trash that was on the banks of the Chicopee River.
In addition to the much smaller items, volunteers managed to create multiple piles of the much heavier items that people carelessly threw away.
Items such as televisions, doors, beds, tires, shopping carts, tents and even carpets were picked up and thrown out by residents who were determined to clean up their community.
