Springfield police say a woman was shot on Cherry Street early Tuesday morning.
The shooting happened a little after 2 a.m.
The female victim was hit in the leg or foot area, police say, adding that the bullet wasn't a direct hit.
"It passed through something else, then hit her," Captain LaBelle with the Springfield Police said.
According to police, the female victim did not need to be transported for medical attention.
Western Mass News will update this story as more information becomes available.
About 4 hours before this shooting, Springfield police responded to another shooting on Worthington and Federal streets.
That victim was conscious and taken to the hospital, Ryan Walsh, the Public Information Officer for the Springfield Police Department, said. But was pronounced dead on Tuesday morning.
