MGM Springfield's $960 million casino is on track to open on August 24, just four months from now.
MGM announced the earlier opening date Thursday morning.
Meanwhile, there are still more than 2,000 jobs to fill before the casino opens.
All kinds of jobs still available as the casino gets set to open in August, and for some of those looking for jobs, they will now find it easier to get work.
"We have over 150 different type of positions for about 2,300 individuals so if you have passion for entertainment and hospitality we have a position for you at MGM Springfield," said Vice President of MGM Human Resources Marikate Murren.
"We do have some incredible hot jobs those interested in culinary, being cooks, servers, I can't stress the importance of getting into the system right now," Murren added.
The gaming commission and legislature have exempted certain casino employees from going through required gaming commission criminal background checks which are mainly culinary jobs.
Those relaxed background checks do not include jobs on the casino floor or those involved with passing money.
Those employees, however, will go through an MGM background check.
"We do have a process of our own but this will not require any gaming license now and thanks to the gaming commission and staff for making this happen for Springfield and for the people who work at the casino," Murren explained.
MGM said it be able to fill all those positions and so do city leaders
"I think they'll end up doing the job in getting the jobs filled on time," said Springfield Chief Development Officer Kevin Kennedy.
As for MGM's commitment to Springfield, Mayor Domenic Sarno said MGM's Bill Hornbuckle reassured him just yesterday of MGM's commitment to a Springfield cssino.
