SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

A woman is in stable condition, police say, after being shot at while driving down Silver Street Sunday morning in Springfield

This was just after 2:30 a.m.

Springfield police tell Western Mass News that shots were fired into a car hitting the driver "in the head, hit her ear."  Police say they found that one bullet had struck the head rest.

We are told the woman drove herself to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield and that she is expected to survive her injuries.

Captain Richard LaBelle with the Springfield Police Department, reports they are investigating the shooting still.

"We don't think that it's random and the exact circumstances are still being sorted through because we have been getting conflicting reports," he explained to us.

LaBelle also confirmed with us that it doesn't appear to be gang related either.

Further details about the shooting weren't immediately available.
