SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

A construction worker is in the hospital after suffering an injury atop some scaffolding.

Dennis Leger, aide to Springfield's fire commissioner, said that around 11:30 a.m. Monday, firefighters responded to the East Columbus Avenue side of Tower Square for a construction worker who had suffered a severe arm injury.

Rescue crews were able to safely get that worker from the scaffolding and to an awaiting ambulance.

Leger noted that the worker, identified only as a middle-aged man, is in stable condition at an area hospital.
