SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

Police have arrested two men they say broke into multiple cars in Springfield this morning. The men allegedly were caught with stolen items when police found them.

19-year-old Enrique Brito of Orange and 18-year-old Deven Dodge of Greenfield were arrested Wednesday morning just before 3 a.m.

"Officers responded to the 100 block of Florida Street for a report of two men looking into parked cars. Officers eventually located two men near the intersection of Bowdoin Street and Ingersoll Grove standing near a van with the passenger door open," explained the Springfield Police Department.

When officers found the two men they detained them as they continued to investigate the situation.

After locating the owner of the van, police say they were able to confirm that the items the two men had in their possession were stolen.

"The owner confirmed the items found on the two men belonged to her," police said.

As part of the investigation, police report they discovered multiple cars on Florida St. with their doors open.

"The two men were also in possession of a backpack that was stolen from a car in the area," added police.

Both Brito and Dodge face 4 counts of Breaking and Entering to a Motor Vehicle, 2 counts of Larceny under $1200 and Receiving Stolen Property.
