ORANGE, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

The identity of a woman killed in a fire in Orange Monday night has been released.

Jane Peterson was 79-years-old.

The Northwestern District Attorney's Office released her identity on Wednesday.

Monday night firefighters were called to a mobile at 38 Glenwood Avenue after a neighbor reported the fire around 9 p.m.

According to Orange Fire Chief Jim Young the report came in as a woman being trapped inside with two of her dogs.

Firefighters were able to knock down the fire quickly when they arrived on scene. A rescue effort was also made.  Unfortunately, the woman and her two dogs perished in the fire.

This fatality is the second of an elderly person in just over a week.  In both instances, smoke detectors were not working.

Officials have reported that the fire was caused by improper disposal of smoking materials.

Flowers were placed outside of the home on Glenwood Ave. as the community mourned the loss.
